Children ask some great questions!

The glowing pickle is yellow due to the change in energy
levels of electrons in sodium, from the salt in the pickle brine.

Soak the pickle in No Salt (potassium chloride) for a day or more and you get a
pink pickle.

Check with Don Rathjen for the design of a glowing pickle apparatus that is
safe for the teacher and students.

110 V can be lethal.
