pinhole compounds ... pure substances?

Subject: pinhole compounds ... pure substances?

Can anyone help explain this: why is a compound considered a pure substance
... if a pure substance is a substance in which there is only one type of
particle, are they considering a molecule "one type of particle" even if made
of many different elements?

I know this is probably just simple to some, but is seems controversial to me
...
