The Official New Hours start today, Tuesday, Jan. 7th. There have been
some changes: the "new" Learning Studio (what was the library/Learning
Resources side of the old "Learning Studio") will be open as a program of
the Center for Teaching and Learning and therefore geared to the hours
teachers can be here: after school 3-5:00 Tues/Fri., and all day Saturday
10-5:00. (This is a change from the staff-oriented morning hours we've
been keeping since November.) Wednesday evenings are a thing of the
past -- the entire museum is now closing at 5:00. But we ~will~ be
circulating materials again, hallelujah!

One big change is that these hours are for the library/Learning Resources
side ONLY -- N*O*T for the Production Studio, which is no longer under the
same organizational umbrella as the Learning Studio. Though the video
dubbing station and one scanner remain in the Learning Studio, there will
be much less support for video/audio editing and other multimedia work.
Our computers will be pretty basic, for internet research and
word-processing and not much else. (This may not be absolutely set in
stone: let me know what your multimedia needs are, and I'll compile a
report to the Powers That Be.)

This loss of the Production Studio space also means it will get pretty
crowded in here sometimes, with only six workstations... but it's much
better than not having the Learning Studio at all. Come on back -- I miss
you folks. And there will be cookies.
