Subject: got bismuth?

hello

i'm looking for some bismuth to play around with in an
attempt to demonstrate diamagnetism. i read that
shotgun shot is now made from bismuth to save a little
on toxicity, but the shells that i bought yesterday
had lead shot, and the guys in the gun shop couldn't
really tell me if bismuth was used. (i believe the
exact words were "this stuff is made to be fired at a
high velocity from a gun, other than that i don't know
what it's good for)

so if you have any bismuth you could part with, email
me at
mcelover@yahoo.com

also, does anyone know of a good way to render a live
yet empty shotgun cartridge safe? somehow just
throwing it in the trash seems like a bad idea.
