Kim, Let me try to take a crack at this...

  As far as requiring CLAD, most school districts with a significant percentage of language learners have begun to require CLAD certification of their employees and applicants. CLAD is now woven into most current credential programs, so that new teachers on the scene will already have their CLAD. I believe that district CLAD requirements for teaching are a negotiated issue in contracts between the union and the school distrct, and penalties also fall into that category, so I'd talk to your union rep about that.
  My distrct required that I get certified after the fact (I was in one of the last credential classes not to have CLAD woven into the curriculum). I was sked to pay for the training myself, but I was reimbursed by the school's TITLE VII grant. Without that grant, the school would not have been able to fund my training.
  Many teachers in my school chose the testing option and passed with minimal preparation. I hope this is of help to you.

Subject: Technology teacher position listing
From: "Geoff Ruth" <gruth@leadershiphigh.org>

Leadership High School is seeking a technology teacher for the
2003-04 school year. Leadership High is a small (375 students) public
charter high school offering a college preparatory program that
emphasizes rigor, personal attention, and extensive leadership
development. We serve the diverse communities within San Francisco by
providing students an excellent education and developing effective
community leaders.

The technology class is designed to teach students basic computer
literacy skills. There is some curriculum already built for the
class, but the teacher should also be interested in and have some
experience in developing technology curriculum. Our school has a new
technology lab, with enough P4 computers for each student to use one.

We look for the following qualities in all Leadership High School staff:
* an ability to work well with students, parents and colleagues;
* willingness to participate in a community with a vision;
* experience with a diverse population in an urban setting;
* experience in school reform;
* willingness and experience at being a generalist first and specialist second.
* a current California teaching credential is required for all faculty.

The exact job requirements for this position are somewhat flexible.
The job could stand alone as a 0.4 PT position, or could also be
combined with teaching another subject (probably math or art) to be a
full time position.

If you are interested in finding out more about the school or job,
please contact me directly.

Thanks,
Geoff Ruth
