TI alumni are invited to participate in the Exploratorium Digital
Asset Management Project (EDAM), funded by the Institute for Library
and Museum Services. For the last 2 years we have been collecting and
digitizing museum materials related to interactive exhibits and
scientific phenomena, including images, educational activities, and
other exhibit-related resources.

Over 2000 digital photographs, QuickTime movies, PDF and Word files
selected for educators are now available through a web-based
interface at:
<http://sagan.exploratorium.edu/Cumulus5/ed/>

Of special interest is the Paul Doherty collection of over 600
photographs of geology phenomena that he has taken over the years.

You will be able to search the database by keyword, display
thumbnails of the results, select the ones you want to use, put them
into a collection basket and download them onto your desktop.

The database is now in a beta-testing phase and we are only making it
available to Pinhole members and a few other select teacher groups.
We are asking you to send us LOTS of comments about the ease or
difficulty of using the database, what you could or could not find
and features you would like us to add or improve.

Enjoy this new resource! It was made for you.

Best,

Subject: CLAD From: "Kim Greco" <kimg@pop.sonic.net> Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 15:43:49 -0700

My district only informed us last month about this new onerous CLAD credentialing. There is still a vast amount of confusion about it, and I wonder if any of you could tell me what your district is doing, especially in certain areas. a. Must the teachers pay for the training, or must the district? b. Do all of us have to have this started by September 2003 or face relocation or layoff? c. What about exemptions for people planning on retiring within 5 years? d. With the no-budget, where on earth is all this money coming from to pay for all our training?

Thanks for any information you can provide (especially if you tell me it's going to go away!), and thanks to all the folks at that great Sound class that gave me input. None of it good news, but still.....
