I think I understand the basic reason why a fish in water appears to be
closer to the surface due to refraction of light. However, when your brain
assumes the refracted ray traveled along a straight line path from inside
the water to reach you, how does it know how far back to trace that line?
How do we know how far back to trace it in a diagram? Thanks!
