Hello,
First, I would like to thank all of the responses I received to my inquiry concerning "Geological Hotspots" in the Bay Area. I was overwhelmed--thank you.
Secondly, I recently took a BART ride to Hayward, and have a couple questions that I hope someone can answer. Past the South Hayward Station, there is an isolated, greenish-grey, sheer hillside off to the left. I am wondering what may have caused that hillside to form, and what type of rock it is.
Shortly afterward, there are several hillsides with trenches that are running down the hills westward. They seem to run differently from the rest of the hill. What might cause these depressions?
After the Union City Station, there is a hillside that seems to be terraced. What might have caused this?
Thank you
Joe
