The unit of mass in the English system is the slug. The unit of weight is the
pound, even though we say a pound equals 2.2kg they are not the same. Mass is
measured on a balance and weight is measured on a spring scale and measures
the force of gravity. As a result mass, the amount of matter, remains
constant, but wieight varies with the gravitational pull.
