The workshop on weather has helped me a lot throughout this new unit that I
am planning. I have one question about a topic that is stressed in the
California Standards for Integrated science. What is temperature inversion.
I know the definition and so do my students but I do not know why they
occur.... why does cold air near the Earth's surface not heat up and rise,
and why does the warm air on top not rise and cool off?
Thanks,
Shannon McManus
