hi pinholers,
i have a question that has been bothering me for a while regarding the earth
and the moon. I can see how the Earth's spin is slowing due to friction
with the tidal bulge... i think. The issue I have is how that is related to
the moon getting further away from the Earth each year. Where does the moon
get this extra energy? I get the idea of conservation of angular
momentum... which is how it is explained in some books... but i don't get it
what is the method of energy transfer from the Earth to the moon... help
peter
