Subject: Great Job!

San Francisco Day School, a coeducational K-8 school of 400, is seeking a
science teacher for grades 6-8 for the 2004-5 school year. The science
program is project based, with emphasis upon hands-on learning and inquiry
investigation. Science at SFDS is considered an integrated subject, one
that is a blend of science disciplines rather than separated into the
traditional distinctions of earth, life, and physical science. The program
is supported by appropriate technology such as probeware.

This position represents an unusual opportunity for candidates since
plans are underway to develop new science facilities at the school. Plans
are also being developed to form an alliance with a local university on
science education and research.

The School is seeking candidates experienced in teaching middle school
age children, knowledgeable about the best practices in science education,
able to work well with other team members to help develop a top-flight
science curriculum, and inspired by science and its importance in today's
world. Interest in coordinating activities with a local university is also
important. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience is preferred. Candidates
from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

For more information, please call Chery Thomas at 931-2422 ext. 115
or email at cthomas@sfds.net
