Subject: Charge Balance in the Universe...

Hello Mike:

Current thinking is that the net charge of the universe is zero with an equal
number of positive and negative particles. Think about it, the current
universe is gravity dominated and gravity compared to electromagnetic force is very
weak. A small magnet will lift an iron nail off a table top while the entire
earth is pulling the nail downward with gravity. If there were not a net
zero charge then there would be electric and magnetic effects that would be
easily observable as gravitational effects were overwhelmed.

Hope that helps,

Al Sefl
Whose checking account also seems to favor a zero net balance...
