Does anyone know if there really is a distinction between ionization and dissociation?  Some text books give them different definitions, but they seem to be used interchangeably in practice.  Also, is solvation (dissolving) considered a chemical or physical reaction or does it matter?  Or are some solvations, like salts, physical, while acid solutions are chemical?

Thanks!
