Dear Pinholers,

I read lots of doom and gloom about the Cassini Probe and 72 pounds of
plutonium. I figure there has got to be another side to the story. So
what is it?
Do they need to have a plutonium powered device? What would be the
alternative?
What sort of vessel is the fuel stored in? A coffee can with lots of duct
tape?
What is the Probe supposed to provide us with?

If you have answers to any or all of the above I would appreciate it
soonest, (I am currently in the atom / nuclear unit at school).

Thanks,
