I am a bit worried that my speaking about details will be taken wrong.
Clearly there is injustice against women. I suspect a lot of engineering
schools are now sort of like military academies, and would be civilized by
the addition of women. Most little societies where there are no dissenting
opinions allowed tend to become a bit sick. My talk of genetics can very
easily be misused, but when feminists talk about women desiring to reach
consensus, or preferring group activites, I view that as potentially
genetic, and that we ought to be sensitive to that. Somehow I thought that
within education we were on the right track and I like to blame popular
culture and family values, my wife, who is a neuroscientist tells me that I
have been living in my own isolated little society for too long and I do
not have a clue. she ;is probably right. One interesting thing about this
is that I have felt quite comfortable discussing this over e-mail, and I am
generally not willing to ahare these opinions as I often am attacked. My
point is that it is similar to the way a lot of young girls feel in class
and this writing and lack of direct confrontation has made it easier for me
and perhaps will better enable them to share in discussions. Eiger
