Thanks for the reply about escape velocities, but I'm still a bit confused.
I've always heard of escape velocities as a number associated with the body in
question. And what if we are just speaking of the theoretical situation of
two bodies traveling apart from each other in a vacuum? And I'm still
confused about the expanding universe - it just doesn't make sense, and I
think that I'm missing something very simple, but I have no idea what it is.
