Hello pinholers!

We received the following invitation from a friend of an Explo
staff member. Sounds like it could be a fun, educational and useful way to
get your students involved in some research:

>
>Hey everyone,
>
>I'm looking for high school and junior high classes that want to do a
>research study on themselves. We just did a story for CNN on kids and
>backpacks and backaches:
>
>http://cnn.com/HEALTH/9902/20/teen.back.pain/index.html
>
>Now we want to take advantage of that fleeting fame to get kids to
>study the problem. We have three goals:
>
>1. Kids learn how to do research (it's math, social studies, etc.
>mixed in to a science project)
>2. Kids develop a sense of consumerism and critical thinking--is there
>really evidence that back packs cause back pain?
>3. If their classes choose to share their information with us, we may
>actually be able to understand something about the risk of back pain in
>teens.
>
>So if you know of any teenagers or teachers, pass this along. They can
>find the stuff they'll need to do the study at:
>
>http://www.med.umich.edu/pmr/spine/
>
>Thanks,
