Hello again,
Spring will be here even sooner (than summer). Here are some things going
on in the next 3 months:

Worm Composting
Free 1 hour workshop at the Exploratorium led by Mary Appelhof (author of
Worms Eat My Garbage), Binet Payne (author of The Worm Cafe: Mid-Scale
Vermi-Composting of Lunchroom Wastes, middle school teacher and garden
director) and Kelly Slocum (Associate Editor of Worm Digest).
Wednesday, March 10, 7 - 8 pm, followed by a book signing, 8 - 9 pm.

Paddle with Canoes in Sloughs
Two trips are being planned:
Saturday, March 20, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm in Petaluma Marsh
and Saturday, April 24 (Earth Day!), 9:30 am - 1:30 pm in Arrowhead Marsh
(near the Oakland Airport)
Cost: $30 for members of Save the Bay, $50 for non-members (which includes
a one-year membership in Save the Bay) Cost includes lunch.
Proceeds support on-the-water education programs.

Canoes in Sloughs/River of Words
Satruday, May 29, 1999, 9 am to 4:30 pm in the Palo Alto Baylands
Highlights: heighten your awareness of watershed, paddle canoes through
Palo Alto Baylands, take home materials.
Cost: $50, includes lunch
1/2 unit of credit available for additional cost.
River of Words is an art and environmental education program that conducts
an annual environmental poetry and art contest to help children discover
their "ecological address". Canoes in Sloughs is the watershed education
program of Save the Bay, and offers field trips for 6th through 12th
graders throughout the Bay Area.
