Hello Math Enthusiasts!

Here is the scoop on getting in on our group rate to the National Council
of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) conference at Moscone Center, San
Francisco, April 22 - 24. This group rate is being organized through the
Council of Math/Science Educators of San Mateo County (CMSESMC). Teachers
do not need to live nor teach in San Mateo County to apply for this
discount. The discount rate is 20% off the normal conference rates:
Normal Rate, NCTM member: $95
Discount Rate, NCTM member: $76
However, if you are not an NCTM member, the rates (which include
membership) are:
Normal Rate, non NCTM member: $152
(normal $95 registration + $57 membership)
Discount Rate, non NCTM member: $132
(discounted $76 registration + $57 membership)
For non NCTM members, it is still rather expensive. Many local math
teachers are used to paying around $90 for the Asilomar conference, which
is a 1 day conference, so compared to that, $132 for 3 days is more of a
bargain.

To join us and get the group rate (for members or non-members), we need a
registration form (download the form from www.nctm.org and make copies as
needed) from each individual teacher. If the teacher is an NCTM member,
she needs to include her NCTM member # on the registration form and include
a check made out to CMSESMC for $76. If the teacher is not an NCTM member,
he needs to indicate which NCTM journal he would like to receive (it is one
of the advantages of being an NCTM member) on the registration form, and
send a check made out to CMSESMC for $132.

Mail registration forms and checks to: Gary Nakagiri, San Mateo County
Office of Education, 101 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, CA 94065-1064
Your registration materials need to be postmarked on or before Monday, March 8.
