Hello Pinhole Friends,
Some of you are probably already pre-registered for the California
Mathematics Council's Annual Asilomar Conference. If you haven't
pre-registered, you can register on-site for this excellent math
conference, which takes place December 3 -5. Science teachers enjoy this
conference almost as much as math teachers (for math teachers, this is
everybody's favorite conference). You can download a conference schedule
from the web:
http://www.cmc-math.org/conference-info/north-main-conf.html
Come hear Paul Doherty, Karen Kalumuck, and Tory Brady from the
Exploratorium Teacher Institute as we integrate math and science in our
workshops at this conference. One of the nice things about this conference
is that most sessions take place on Saturday, December 4, so you can attend
without missing school or having to pay for a hotel (if you drive down to
Monterey and back on Saturday).
After Saturday's sessions, there are a number of receptions that take place
(usually from about 5 pm - 7 pm), hosted by different math teachers'
organizations (the affiliates of CMC). Your Exploratorium pals will be
attending the CMSESMC reception Saturday evening. CMSESMC is the Council
of Math and Science Educators of San Mateo County. Come join us! Look for
CMSESMC reception notices in the registration area at Asilomar.
See you there,
Lori Lambertson
