Position Open: Woodland Elementary
Outreach Consultant wanted for Woodland
Elementary, a two year old small school for social
justice in Oakland, CA. We are a community based
school partnered with ACORN, a grassroots
community organization and the Oakland Unified
School District.
The Outreach Consultant, (ORC) as per funding
through SB 65 Motivation and Maintenance grant,
will coordinate our Student Success Team Process,
ensuring that children most at-risk of
underachievement are identified and nurtured with
a wide range of support to facilitate their
emotional, social and academic growth. This
includes working closely and effectively with
students, families, counselors and community-based
organizations to develop and implement plans that
will improve attendance, behavior and academic
achievement. The ORC will also take a strong role
in our School Site Council, a governance body
consisting of parents, teachers, staff and
administrators.
We are looking to hire an ORC who has experience
in education and/or community based organizations
in bilingual, bicultural urban communities,
preferably having worked with African American and
Latino students and families. We welcome a staff
person who believes in the potential of all of our
students and is willing to work creatively and
collaboratively toward that goal. We seek a staff
member who shares our commitment to developing an
equitable, just society and a welcoming, caring
school community.
· Compensation: $35,000-39,000 + benefits
· 10 month work year
· Full time position with some evenings.
· CalState Drop Out Prevention Specialist
Certificate Required by end of first year
employment.
