I am considering a trip to Latin America over winter break. I'd like to work
on my Spanish and perhaps get a little natural history education. I like to
hike. I'd like to see tropical rainforests, both lowland and cloud, but I'm
open to other ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions of places you've
visited and found especially enjoyable and interesting?

I've travelled in Peru, Ecuador, and in the Oaxaca and Guadalajara regions of
Mexico and would like someplace else this time. I've not been to Costa Rica
or other Central American countries. I'd probably prefer Central American or
Caribbean destinations for this trip, to keep the travel costs down. I tend
to prefer quieter towns; I avoid destination resorts. Other than that, I'm
open to a variety of suggestions.

By the way, there's a fun rainforest site with an interesting mix of photos
and symbol language at:

Thanks for any ideas,
Ben Pittenger
