Subject: extra credit labs for students studying evolution

Hey all,
I am in a 'very' near rush to identify and make available laboratory experiments, or other 'projects' that could serve as extra credit for a few students that are eager to raise their 'average' and in two cases, B average, up a grade.
In our text [Modern Biology], there is a class laboratory called Making Microspheres, which I could do, except it calls for a mixture of amino acids. I don't know if I can acquire those items early this week - its the last week of classes prior to exam week. I was advised that aa supplements, like those used by 'training athletes' could be used in stead but they are somewhat expensive, correct? Any ideas of substitutes or other labs that would be pertinent to evolution studies?

Anything you can suggest would be appreciated, muchly!

   Frank
