Hello Pinhole Friends,
Here is a message from our friends at Save SF Bay, inviting you to
join a restoration project this weekend. For more information, read
on:

Save The Bay <>www.savesfbay.org
Wetland Restoration Volunteers Needed
Dates: 2/7, 2/28
Time: 9am to noon
Location: San Francisquito Creek in the Palo Alto Baylands
Description:
Winter restoration activities focus on planting native wetland
plants- including marsh gumplant, pickleweed, and alaki heath. Come
help us out during the rainy season and help to create more wetland
habitat for shorebirds and wildlife in the Bay. This is part of our
on going native plant restoration project with the Palo Alto Baylands
Nature Preserve. Gloves and tools are provided, dress in layers and
bring a rain jacket and water bottle, no experience necessary. Please
bring your own water bottle and help us cut down on plastic! Families
are welcome. Fulfills high school community service requirements.
RSVP is required, due to the sensitive nature of the restoration site
space is limited. Groups larger than 20 can also schedule their own
project date.

The Site:
The mouth of San Francisquito Creek is a unique wetland habitat that
is part of both the City of Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve and
San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Save The Bay's
Community-Based Restoration Program, along with the City of Palo Alto
Baylands Nature Preserve, has been working with the help of schools,
community groups, non-profit organizations, and corporations to
restore the mouth of the creek to its original splendor. Volunteers
come once a month to plant native plants, remove non-native plants,
monitor water quality, and clean the shoreline, ensuring that another
generation of bay residents can enjoy the beauty of our national
treasure, the San Francisco Bay.

Directions:
Take Hwy 101 to the Embarcadero Rd. exit. Head east towards the Bay,
at the end of the Embarcadero Rd. take a left . Follow the sign to
the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, continue 100 ft. past the
white Ranger Station on your left, here you will see a big gravel
parking lot on your left. Look for the Save The Bay truck, we will
meet here. Our cell phone that morning is either 510-882-1642 or
510-908-1576 in case you get lost.
