BP Launches New Grant Program Promoting Energy
Education and Conservation in California Classrooms
Deadline: June 30, 2004
BP, a global energy provider, has launched A+ for Energy,
a new program that will recognize instructional creativity
by awarding $2 million in grants to California K-12
educators who teach students about energy and energy
conservation.
BP will award up to $2 million in grants to K-12
California teachers for innovative classroom, after-
school, extracurricular, or summer activities focused on
energy education and/or energy conservation. Grants will
be awarded directly to teachers; grant amounts will equal
$5,000 or $10,000, depending on the budgets submitted by
the teachers in the application.
Winning teachers will also receive a National Energy
Education Development (NEED) scholarship to attend a five-
day energy training conference in Long Beach in July 2005.
The all-inclusive scholarship will cover travel, meals,
and lodging expenses in addition to a NEED Science of
Energy Kit valued at $500 that includes helpful classroom
tools and materials to help educators teach students about
energy and energy conservation.
Any K-12 teacher currently teaching in a California public
or private school is encouraged to apply. For complete
program information and an application form, visit the
project's Web site.
