Hey digest people and regular mode people,
There are more people on digest mode than regular mode. When people
read their digest messages, all messages, from people in regular mode
and digest mode are packaged at midnight and sent off the following
day. These digest emails can get really long.
When you reply to some one else's email, please don't include their
original message. If you do, the digest, which is sent out at
midnight, packages everything and the digest gets really long.
Here's a quick calculation of the length of the digest email if two
people a day pressed reply without getting rid of previous messages:
Given:
- A pinhole digest email is about 2 pages of original messages each night.
- Two people respond each day to the previous night's digest without
deleting the other messages.
Day 1:
2 pages of email (original messages) = 2 pages total
Day 2:
Day 1's email replied (2 pages x 2 = 4 pages) + new stuff (2 page) =
6 pages total
Day 3:
Day 2's email replied (6 pages x 2 = 12 pages) + new stuff (2 page) =
14 pages total
EtcŠ.
So in 10 ten days, people in digest mode will have to scroll over
2000 pages to get to the end of their emails!
In one month, people in digest mode will have to scroll over 4.3
billion pages to get to the end of their emails!
Also, remember to send your emails in plain text. In the above
example, if the emails were sent with html coding, it would over
double the length of each email. At the end of the month, digest
messages would be well over a quadrillion pages long.
You pinholers are doing a lot better about replying to emailsŠlet's
keep it up. Just to let you know, within a few weeks there is going
to be an additional 40 new teachers joining pinhole.
Thanks,
