Hi Geoff,
My e-mail had glitch. Heating a mixture of potassium chlorate with a small
amount of manganese dioxide will produce oxygen, but is more expensive than the
peroxide method. Using zinc with sulfuric acid instaed of hydrochloric acid
will eliminate HCl fumes. Car battery acid is about 9M sulfuric acid and is a
cheap source. be careful diluting sulfuric acid as a lot of heat is generated.
