Do you remember the TI Alumni workshop last fall, The Science of
Harry Potter? If you wanted to attend and didn't get a chance,
you're in luck! On Saturday, Feb. 5, Modesto Tamez, Anna Rochester,
and myself will be reprising our roles as grown-up Hogwart's students
to reproduce the workshop at RAFT in San Jose. (The description
follows). If you're interested in attending, you can sign up by
calling RAFT at 408-451-1420 or online at www.raft.net. Cost is $25
for RAFT members, $40 for non-members, and you get a goody-bag full
of "stuff" to conduct the activities in your own classrooms. (note:
this is not an Exploratorium workshop, so you will not receive a
stipend for your participation).

Here's the scoop:

Harry Potter Science
February 05, 2005, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Leave behind your Muggle disbelief as you join several teachers from
the Exploratorium in a delightful afternoon of Magic. An
interdisciplinary delight, this workshop will help you recreate the
magic of Hogwarts while you learn the real science behind some
amazing effects. Learn the secrets of levitation, secret messages,
flying objects as well as some Potions and Herbology. Costumes
encouraged, broomsticks optional!

Hope to see some of you there!
