Below are two job opportunities for the Oakland Street Academy. The
job announcements are also attached to this email. Street Academy is a
small high school near downtown Oakland and is a place where you can
work with at-risk youth while being in a structured setting. It has a
supportive staff and wonderful students. The school is dedicated to

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Single Subject California Teaching Credential,
bachelors degree from an accredited college or university,
verification of passing CBEST, ability to develop creative mathematics
curricula for grades 9–12, knowledge of and experience with
multicultural curriculum and concepts, and commitment to working
closely and intensively with Oakland students and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Assume Responsibilities for Mathematics
• Teach mathematics skills and concepts to young people through
courses in Math Enrichment, Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra
II/Trigonometry
• In conjunction with other staff members, develop curricula and other
programs.
• Test, diagnose, and prescribe learning activities for students
appropriate to their existing skill and needs levels
• Requisition instructional materials.
• Plan, supervise, and participate in subject-related field trips and
student activities.
• Evaluate student performance and progress toward learning objectives.
II. Serve As Consulting Teacher
• Serve as Consulting Teacher to approximately 20 students.
• Conduct counseling sessions with students on their academic progress.
• Contact parents regularly, by telephone and home visits, regarding
their child's academic progress.
• Maintain records.
III. Participate in Staff Wide Activities
• Supervise teaching assistants, community volunteers, and students
when necessary.
• Participate in selection and intake of students.
• Attend all required staff, in-service, parent, and community
meetings during and after the normal workday as indicated by the
Executive Director.
• Perform those other duties and responsibilities relative to the
position as required by the Executive Director.
