Subject: Inquiry re metabolic rate
Dear colleagues
I am attempting to connect the intake of food to the ability to do work. I
can calculate the amount of calories in a serving of food and I can convert
the amount of energy into an amount of work available. Obviously, there is
not a 100% pass through and that is my quandry. I am looking for references
that can give ballpark estimates for the use of calories by the body (BMR),
efficiencies of muscle use, and other drains on the intake so that I can
estimate the % of usable energy for work.
Any help out there?
